JULY IS PURSE AND BAG MONTH!

Mosaic Bag Workshop with Betty Balcomb
Thursday, July 10, 6-8pm; $50
Learn Mosaic Knitting, construction of knitted tote bags and felting, all in one two-hour workshop. We will spend the first hour mastering this surprisingly easy 2-color technique. During the second hour, we will get going on our bags. Before the class is over, felting instructions will be reviewed.
Supplies: Two colors of feltable worsted weight yarn, size 11 needles  

Noni Bags Workshop with Diane Scheinman
$50 each or $85 for both
Part 1: Getting Started
Wednesday, July 16, 6-8 pm
An introduction to felted bags, this class will provide an overview of the felting process, yarn choices, pattern reading and techniques. Bring
your Noni pattern and current project, or start a bag in class.
Supplies: US #11 straight or 24” circular needles, 2 balls worsted weight yarn (feltable), stitch markers
Part 2: Finishing

Wednesday, July 30, 6-8pm
Explore the varieties of finishing techniques that will assure a fantastic final product – lining the bag; attaching handles, zippers and closures, and feet; creating embellishments (flowers, bobbles, etc.)
Supplies:
US #11 straight or 24” circular needles, 2 balls worsted weight yarn (feltable), stitch markers

Crescent-Shaped Knitted Lace Purse with Beads with Lisa Daehlin
Sunday, July 20th, 1-4pm; $85
Using a pattern designed by the instructor, create a beautiful knitted purse with beads and lace as embellishment. Skills covered include very basic lace knitting, 3-needle bind-off, picot hem and knitting with beads. Note: this design can be worked in varying levels of difficulty and is appropriate for beginning and more advanced knitters. Students should know how to cast-on, knit, purl, bind-off. Familiarity with working on double pointed needles in the round is suggested.
Supplies: purse handles, bulky weight yarn (optional: beads can be purchased from the instructor in class for an additional fee).

Purse Finishing and Lining with Karen Bradunas
Saturday, July 26th, 1-4pm; $75
In this class you will learn how to make a pattern for lining your bag as well as attaching handles. You will learn handstitching to complete the lining and attach it to your bag. Time permitting, you will learn additional techniques (such as snap, button, drawstring and zipper closures).
Supplies: Your completed felted bag, fabric for lining, sewing supplies (needle, thread, scissors, pins. ruler) handles and closure (button, snap, etc.), if applicable.

KNIT-A-LONGS

Market Bag Knit or Crochet Along with Aryn Morse

INTERMEDIATE KNITTING

How to Read Patterns 101 with Maxine Levinson
Saturday, July 19, 3-5 pm; $25
Are you tired of making scarves and want to try your first sweater? Do knitting patterns confuse and intimidate you? K2tog, ssk, yo, pm, M1 … what do all those abbreviations mean anyway? Maxine Levinson will conduct this informative workshop where you will learn the basics of reading a knitting pattern, creating a proper gauge swatch, choosing the correct method of increase and decrease plus helpful tips for improving your knitting technique.
Supplies: (Class fee includes an issue of Knit Simple Magazine)
- A swatch to practice:  Cast on 20 stitches or more using worsted weight, solid, light color yarn. Do not bind off, leave the stitches live on the needle so you can practice new methods.
- A calculator (optional)
- A tape measure, small ruler or gauge ruler.
- One knitting pattern you are interested in.  

Free Groups

Men's Night – Wednesdays from 6-8 pm
A drop-in group for male knitters! Bring whatever project(s) you're working on; bring your questions, and show off your work. All levels of knitters are welcome from beginners learning how to cast on, to life-long knitters designing patterns for publication. Our meetings have no agenda except supporting each others' efforts. We’re sometimes very talkative and sometimes very quiet as everyone focuses on making progress on a project.

Kids ages 7 to 11 are welcome in this after-school knitting class. Small projects such as purses, sweaters for stuffed animals, and hats will be completed in each 4-week session. No previous knitting experience necessary!
Supplies: Some materials included. Additional items may be purchased as necessary.

Parent/Child Knitting with Sara Gelman
Sundays, 3:30 - 4:30 pm; $100/ 4 sessions, per person
Learn to knit or improve your skill while working on a project of your choosing. Inter-generational knitting can be a shared life long hobby. All levels welcome.
