Socks on Parade!
It's Sock-October at Knitty City
Whew! We're exhausted, but excited. The NYC Yarn Crawl Weekend is over and it was a good one! (Congratulations to this year's winner of the Raffle Basket: Alexis Dustinoff. We saw lots of friends and lots of new faces, as well. We're thrilled but, frankly, a little tired - yet happy. Why? Well, it's Fall in New York, and New York is particularly special in the Fall. The parks are filled, the weather is downright balmy and people's thoughts turn to making warm and cozy things for the upcoming holidays.
In celebration of Fall in NY, we're thrilled to Announce a Sock Yarn Special for the month of October. All sock yarns (all!) are on sale this month for 10% off. Now's the time to stash up and buy whatever strikes your fancy. The cool thing about sock yarn is that it is also ideal for baby items, cowls, hats, mittens and just about anything that calls for a fingering or lightweight yarn. If you want to open your eyes to other items that are suitable for sock weight yarns, you might consider Sandi Rosner's series of books with titles such as: Not Just for Socks and Not Just Socks for Kids.
It you're a traditonalist when it comes to socks, you might wanto to look at one Cat Bordhi's books on sock making. We have a number of them in stock and Cat is as close to a magician as you can imagine when it comes to making socks. In addition to more of her titles, we also have some great standard sock titles to consider. Ask Pearl or Zach - they'll let you know where they are to be found. Don't forget, we are offering all books on a sliding scale sale. The more you buy, the more you save.

Authors Left to Right: Cookie A, Wendy Johnson, Ann Budd
We've also just re-organized our shelves and now stock is shelved, according to weight of yarn. So, you'll find all the sock yarn in one place, the dk in one place, and so on and so forth. It should make browsing easier. Let us know if and how you like it. New Shipments are also in the store as of today. We've just received a huge delivery from Tahki Stacy Charles and are stocking our shelves with Zara in more than one weight and in a complete range of colors. Everyone loves Zara and we're no exception.

We have also received a number of other great yarns from the same company, including Taos, Rio and something new for us, Big Smile. There are accompanying pattern books, as well.

L-R: Rio, Big Smile, Taos
