We're riding the cusp of Labor Day this weekend, and that means that Fall is almost officially here. With the kids back to school and many of our friends back from vacation, it's beginning to feel like it, anyway. Since it's the official "start" of knitting season in the city we thought it fitting that we begin this posting with news of the Surprise we promised in our last newsletter.
New Knitty City "Rewards" Program
Knitty City has initiated a Rewards Program for Knitty City customers. Zach (aka "the guy behind the counter") and Pearl have been busy developing a plan for those of us who like to knit a lot! The sytem is simple and the rewards are many - so what could be better?
Here's how it works:
We give you a KC Rewards Card on which you fill in your name, phone number and email.
Every $20.00 spent, earns one "star " per our unique handy-dandy KC star-puncher.
Every fully "starred" cards (showing ten $20 purchases) earns you 20% off on your next transaction
Things to Keep in Mind:
While partial amounts (i.e.$19.98) do not qualify, you earn one "star" for every $20 spent.
All merchandise qualifies, but not purchases made with a credit or gift card. (but....you do earn "stars" when you buy a gift card)
Cards must be presented at time of purchase to qualify.
Classes, private lessons & gift cards are not eligible for the 20% discount.
When redeeming, the 20% discount is maximum discount allowed, including already discounted items. (No multiple/cumulative discounts given)
Be sure to stop by and make sure to get your Knitty City Rewards Card today!
Our Yarn of the Month for September is Berroco. All of our Berroco yarns are 10% off and, boy, do we have some beauties, including new ones. A long-standing favorite of many of our customers, Berroco yarns give great value and style thanks to their creative director, Norah Gaughan. Let's begin with one of their newest; BRIO. Meant to be worked on a large needle, it knits up quickly and yields a big effect. Each brilliantly dyed colorway of this thick and thin wool blend is infused with glittering metallic strands that are completely soft to the touch. Take a look at some of these colors - and that's just a small part of the Brio color story. We have more to show you, in store.
Knitty City has lots of new stock and colors in some of our favorite "standard" Berocco yarns, including: Lodge, Borealis & Flicker. In addition, we are holding a special Berroco Yarn Tasting on September 7th, from 2-6 PM. Stop by and take a turn testing out the new yarns and choosing a new (or favorite) color to play with while you're there.
Other Yarn News
You remember Lang's Mille Colori, sock yarn, don't you? So many people like this yarn that when it came out in a Baby (fingering) weight and a bulkier weight, we decided to carry that, as well. Lang is also the producer of Balou and Forte as well as some gorgous pattern booklets - all of which we happily present to you. Ask one of us to show you some of hese lovely European beauties when next you are in. While you're at it, don't forget about "Souk", the new silk and wool yarn from Cascade which we wrote about n the last newsletter. It's worth a touch. Cascade's Venzia's new Fall colors are also on the shelf.
Rowan Yarns tend to inspire the classicist in everyone and their fall selection is no exception. We have Alpaca Colour, Lima Colour, Kedsilk Haze Eclipse, Thick 'n Thin and a new Angora Haze yarn that is pure femininity. Be sure to ask to see the garment sample on that one. In addition, there are new fall colors in for Big Wool, Cocoon, Lima and Kidsilk Haze.
A last minute shipment of Cephlapod's "Bugga" just arrived.
Hurry, this stuff lasts about as long as ice cream on a hot day!
And those of us who love Lorna's Laces, will want to check out the new season's colors for Helen's Lace, Shepherd Sock, and Shepherd Worsted. Sweet Georgia has new colors for their Tough Love Sock, and Superwash Worsted and for the truly sensitive souls who can't abide wool, we just added to our collection of cotton yarns with a new one from Blue Heron, a mercerized fine weight cotton ideal for a spectacular shawl or a soft and wondrous baby's blanket.

Interested in Getting Away From It All?
If you're the type that loves a trip and meeting other like minded people, (who doesn't?), we thought you should know about The Round House Knitter's Retreat hosted by Metaphor Yarns. They dropped off some information about a neat little event in Colrain, MA that they are hosting this December!. Go here: www.metaphoryarns.com to find out all about it.
Keep an eye out for the next newsletter - coming in about a week. We'll be doing an interview with a young new yarn producer whose work we think you'll really appreciate - and she's local.
'Til then don't forget to keep knitting and, when you're not, stop on by and say Hello.
Just don't forget to bring your latest project along with you.
